Life Membership Selection Guidelines
Selection Committee Members:
The Region Life Membership Selection Committee shall be made up of past 3 Region Presidents and 2 Region Life Members to be appointed by the immediate President. If for any reason a past President cannot fulfill this obligation on the committee, the line of succession would move to the next prior past President to fill the vacancy.
The presiding Chairperson of this committee will be the Region President who served as the 3rd past President or prior.
Submission of Life Membership Candidates:
Names to be considered for life membership shall be submitted to the Life Membership Selection Committee chairperson no later than the September Board Meeting. Any Region member in good standing may recommend a candidate for consideration. The recommendation must include a resume of the Qualifications making the candidate worthy of consideration.
Selection Criteria:
No current Region Board member or member of the Life Membership Selection Committee or their spouses should be considered.
Yearly awarding of a life membership is not mandatory
There may be more than one life membership awarded in anyone year, but it is recommended no more than two.
Each name submitted must be accompanied by a resume stating the Qualifications and years in the Region
Members to be considered must have contributed valuable services in support of the Region and its activities and shall have had at least 15 years tenure in the Region.
Method of Final Selection:
I. Each possible candidate will be reviewed by the selection committee and must be accepted by the committee by a simple majority vote based on a secret vote
The selection committee’s recommendation will be final and will be submitted to the current Region Board by the October Board Meeting for acceptance or denial.
The Region Board will discuss each candidate’s qualifications in a confidential manner at a closed session. Voting will be by secret ballot, with each Board member having one vote. Results will remain confidential until time of presentation of the award.
Life Membership Presentation:
Presentation of a Life Membership will be made to any successful candidate by the outgoing Region President at the Region Annual Meeting
